In procedures such as extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL), shock waves are transmitted into the body through a water cushion. Dissolved gases or air bubbles scatter the acoustic energy, promote cavitation, and reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

That is why the water is continuously filtered, temperature-controlled, and degassed. This is the only way to ensure consistent energy transfer, reproducible treatment results, and reliable equipment operation.
